Saint Stephen of Hungary - A Saint for Leaders!!

There is a saying from British historian Lord Acton who once said, “Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. Great men are almost always bad men.” I think history, for the most part, agrees with Lord Acton…except for this saint that I’d like to talk about. Saint Stephen of Hungary.

Saint Stephen had great power as King of Hungary and rather than having that kind of power corrupt him like most, he remained humble, prayerful, a champion for the poor, and continually sought the salvation of souls. Many times power can be abused and greed and abuse can take over. Saint Stephen can be an inspiration to those of you who find yourself in leadership positions – at work, at school, in your home, or at your church – to lead with compassion, with love, with care for the souls that you are leading. May St. Stephen help you to be a leader like him. St. Stephen, pray for us!
