Roger Ebert & The Movies: 12-26-99

Roger Ebert and Guest Critic, Harry Knowles from "Ain't It Cool News" reviews "The Talented Mr. Ripley" ("How do you become a fake somebody than a real nobody?" Very suspense thriller from director, Anthony Minghella. Starring: Matt Damon in his brilliance as Ripley, Gweneth Paltrow, Jude Law, Phillip Seymour Hoffman and Cate Blanchett.); "Fantasia 2000" (I went to see this at the IMAX in Seattle, WA later in April, 2000 and it was spectacular with dazzling and stunning animation blending with high strong orchestra notes all on this giant screen! I've now owned the film on Blu-ray/DVD Combo Pack since 2010! Truly, I strongly disagree with both of them on the introduction with celebrities like Steve Martin, Bette Midler, Penn & Teller and more. They did a great job!); "Any Given Sunday" (One of Oliver Stone's better movies in the late 90's and it's a sports Football drama that goes for the odds and ends of fame, fortune, plays, gratitude and edginess! Starring: Al Pacino, Cameron Diaz, James Woods, Dennis Quaid, Jamie Foxx and L.L. Cool J.); "The Hurricane" (Powerful Drama from director, Norman Jewison. Based on a true story about a middleweight boxing champion who was wrongly accused of murder. Starring: Denzel Washington, Rod Steiger, Liev Schreiber, Dan Hedaya, Vicellous Reon Shannon, John Hannah and the real life Ruben Carter.) and "Galaxy Quest" (Incredible and Hilarious Sci-Fi Satirical Comedy Adventure take on "Star Trek". Written By: David Howard and Robert Gordon and Directed By: Dean Parisot. Starring: Tim Allen, Sigourney Weaver, Alan Rickman, Tony Shalhoub, Sam Rockwell, Daryl "Chilli" Mitchell, Justin Long, Enrico Colantoni and Rainn Wilson.). And a recap of Today's program.
