Hey everyone, it’s Leaflit. I just spent a week back in California—visited places I used to love—but I barely recognized it anymore. Everything was drastically more expensive, from food to transit. The streets were chaotic: full of trash, open drug use, homeless encampments—and even people randomly screaming or punching signs in the middle of traffic. Stores had glass cages around their merchandise.
Worst of all, the laws make it nearly impossible to protect yourself. You can’t have a gun or even essential self-defense tools. Meanwhile, violent crime, theft, and public disorder are soaring. I'm calling out California’s leadership—laws that block people's ability to defend themselves while letting mental illness, homelessness, and lawlessness run rampant.
Rising costs and mass exodus: Nearly one in five renters pays over half their income on rent. Many middle‑income residents are fleeing the state due to cost, crime, and poor services.
Homelessness crisis out of control: Over 187,000 homeless individuals in California, mostly unsheltered. The state spent ~$37B since 2019, yet the crisis only worsened—audits call the system broken.

Soaring violent and petty crimes: Crime rates have increased—California being called a warning sign to the rest of the country, with theft, assault, and drug incidents spiking.
Self-defense rights restricted: AB 1333 would force citizens to retreat and curtail the use of deadly force—even in homes. An appeals court also struck down California’s ammo background check law as violating the Second Amendment.
California is unrecognizable—once vibrant cities now feel bankrupt of safety, order, and opportunity.
Policies backfire—progressive laws meant to protect actually enable lawlessness and vulnerability.
Self-defense rights are shrinking—while residents feel less safe, laws strip away protection.
Residents are voting with their feet—an exodus of long-term Californians shows this isn’t just discomfort—it’s rejection of failed policy.
