CBS News (!) Sinks Multiple Dem Talking Points About Trump's D.C. Crime Fighting Effort

Posted • August 27, 2025: There are a couple of main narratives that the Democrats have been attempting to push ever since President Trump federalized the law enforcement efforts in Washington, DC. The first is something along the lines of what Rep. Eric Swalwell has been repeating, and it's completely ridiculous and apparently based on an increase in the number of arrests equating to an increase in crime: —— Eric Swalwell @ericswalwell: “It’s been 10 days since Trump militarized DC. Crime is on the rise. Trump owns it.” —— Whatever Swalwell says you can be pretty sure the exact opposite is true. This is another one of those times. CBS News performed a random act of actual journalism and analyzed what happened to the crime rate in DC when Trump federalized law enforcement in the city. —— CBS News analyzed D.C. crime data amid National Guard deployments. —— I'll start with the kind of claims like the post from Swalwell that crime is on the rise since Trump federalized the policing effort in DC.

Fact check: ANOTHER lie from a Dem: “In the nearly three weeks since President Trump deployed federal troops and law enforcement agents throughout Washington, D.C., a CBS News analysis of crime data shows violent crime is down in Washington by almost half when compared to the same 19 days in 2024. The analysis, reviewing every crime incident reported to the District of Columbia's Metropolitan Police Department from Aug. 7 through Aug. 25, also shows violent crime is down in comparison to the five-year average for the same dates. Beyond violent crime, reported burglaries also are down 48% and car thefts have fallen 36%.” —— The other talking point on the Left is that the National Guard and other police officers are only patrolling in already relatively safe areas. Another Dem narrative bites the dust:

“While some news reports and pundits suggested the deployments may have been in lower-crime areas, CBS News' analysis of the locations of reported crimes in 2025 indicates that the federal government deployed troops and other federal law enforcement agents mostly in areas with higher – and often much higher – rates of crime, violent crime and gun crime than the average neighborhood across the city. The analysis examines the location of every crime incident within a half mile of the locations where CBS News verified that federal troops or law enforcement agents are assigned. Crime is down in DC and the Democrats are pissed about it, which speaks volumes as to why nobody should ever vote for them ever again.

How many "journalists" in DC now feel safer, but won't admit because of politics? At least one correspondent wasn't afraid to admit that to Trump. The Democrats certainly never will though.
