The story of the Prophet who was swallowed by a great fish is one of the most powerful lessons in history. He called his people to worship Allah, but they mocked and rejected him. He left them and boarded a ship, but when a storm came and the ship was about to sink, he was cast into the raging sea.

A mighty fish, by Allah’s command, swallowed him whole. Inside the darkness of the night, the sea, and the belly of the fish, he called upon Allah with a prayer that has become eternal:

“La ilaha illa anta, Subhanaka, inni kuntu minaz-zalimeen.”
(There is no deity except You; Glory be to You. Indeed, I was among the wrongdoers.)

Allah accepted his prayer. The fish released him onto the shore, safe and alive. His people repented, and this became a timeless sign for all of mankind.
