Our Lady of Knock 1879

The Marian apparition at Knock, Ireland, is one of the more recent apparitions and is known for its silence and symbolic imagery. On the rainy evening of August 21, 1879, fifteen people, ranging in age from five to seventy-five, witnessed an apparition on the gable wall of the parish church.

Today the Knock Shrine receives over one million visitors a year. The shrine and apparition in 1879 remind us of the value of silence and placing God at the center of our lives.
