Israel admits strike on Gaza hospital, regrets ‘harm to uninvolved’ and announces probe into deaths

Following an Israeli strike on Gaza's Nasser Hospital that killed at least 20 people, the Israeli military released a statement acknowledging the attack and announced an inquiry by the army chief of staff.
It expressed regret for harm to the uninvolved and denied targeting civilians or journalists, a claim contradicted by nearly 63,000 Palestinian deaths over 22 months.
Israeli media reports, citing army sources, suggest the attack was conducted by ground troops in tanks, not the Air Force.
A first shell hit a stairwell, and a second strike then targeted those, including journalists and doctors, who had arrived to evacuate the wounded, killing everyone in the area.
This pattern of targeting protected groups and subsequent internal investigations, which typically absolve the military of wrongdoing, repeats a well-established tactic.
