This chapter presents two people on two people in contrast: Hannah and Eli. Hannah has been blessed with a child and her prayer of praise ends with a prophecy of the Messianic Kingdom. Her blessing was in response to the blessing of Eli, but Eli himself is CURSED by his inaction against the horrible sins of his own sons Hophni and Phinehas. This ends with a prophecy of God's judgment.
