Landing of a DHC-6 Twin Otter at the airport of the Caribbean island of Saba
Which belongs to the Netherlands Antilles territories.
The main feature of this airport is the shortest runway in the world among commercial airports, only about 400 meters long.
Steep cliffs are located at the ends of the runway, making landing and takeoff here extremely difficult and requiring special skill from pilots. Air traffic here is limited to aircraft such as light turboprop planes like the De Havilland Canada DHC-6 Twin Otter and Britten-Norman BN-2 Islander, which have STOL (short takeoff and landing) capabilities.
Due to its location and short runway, the airport is considered one of the most dangerous airports in the world. Landing here is compared to a "bird landing on a stamp" – thanks to such unusual and extreme conditions.
