Why Should Black Americans RESPECT People Who DISRESPECT Us?

In this video, I react to a Black American man speaking on the negative disposition that Africans and Caribbeans often have towards Black Americans. While he seemed surprised by this reality, he downplayed our right to respond, suggesting that we should just “give grace” and accept disrespect because “they don’t know any better.” That’s where he lost me.

Yes, there may have been less disrespect years ago, but today, the hostility is clear. Why should Black Americans kill people with kindness when they openly disrespect us? The truth is, too many still carry this outdated Pan-African “we’re all one” mindset that ignores the tribalism, separation, and hostility Africans themselves admit to in their own lands. If they don’t even treat each other as “one people,” why should we accept that false unity here?

This is old head babble — minimizing the severity of how we as Black Americans should move. Foundational Black Americans (FBA) must be militant, protective of our culture, and unwilling to give passes for blatant disrespect.
