Call of Duty Black Ops 7 is set in 2035, roughly forty years after Black Ops II (2012) and following Black Ops 6 (2024). Players follow David “Section” Mason, now a JSOC Commander leading an elite team (Specter One), as they investigate the shocking return of terrorist Raul Menendez, who vows to “burn the world” in three days.

The team’s mission leads them to the Mediterranean city of Avalon, where they uncover a terror plot involving a weapon that turns fear into a weapon, and confront The Guild, a powerful tech corporation led by Emma Kagan.

The campaign can be played solo or in co-op (up to four players) and spans diverse environments—from neon-soaked rooftops in Japan to psychological landscapes tied to the characters’ pasts.

At the campaign’s dramatic conclusion, players unlock an “Endgame” mode—an open replayable section set in Avalon, where personalized abilities and challenges test what they’ve mastered.

The multiplayer mode delivers a robust experience with 16 new 6v6 maps and two massive 20v20 “Skirmish” maps. Players harness near-future weapons and traverse environments using an enhanced Omnimovement system, including wall-jumping and new tactical tools.

Special features include the Overclock system, which enables upgrades to Scorestreaks, equipment, and lethal/tactical tools, and a Build Code system for easily sharing weapon loadouts.

The beloved Round-Based Zombies mode returns in the Dark Aether, featuring return appearances by characters like Richtofen, Dempsey, Nikolai, and Takeo, who team up against emerging threats in a constantly shifting, nightmarish environment
