A federal judge has ordered Florida and the federal government to dismantle the “Alligator Alcatraz” detention center in the Everglades. The judge found the prison caused “irreparable harm” to tribal lands, endangered wildlife, and the fragile ecosystem. Gov. DeSantis’s immigration project is now blocked—but the state vows to appeal.
