Check out this short video to learn the key differences between the better-known classic psychedelic ceremonial brew known as "ayahuasca," and its lesser known sister, another powerful amazonian plant admixture known as "Jurema."

Jurema is a DMT plant which requires an MAOI to become activated in the normal human metabolic process. Interestingly, Ayahuasca works in the opposite way - Ayahuasca is the plant which contains the beta-carboline MAOIs, although it is considered by the cultural context surrounding it to be the 'spirit within the plant.'

So the Jurema plant spirit actually works through DMT, whereas the ayahuasca plant spirit works through telepathine and the other subtle metabolites of ayahusca which contain MAOIs. What might this tell us about the spirit that we are dealing within in each one?

In my experience, they both come to the same neurochemical result; yet, there are certainly quantifiable differences between the two. Ayahuasca is a bit more calm, stoic, and 'medicinal for the body;' whereas Jurema, working through the DMT molecule, is a bit more freewheelin', garrulous, talkative, hedonistic, and in some ways, soulful...
