Some of these trip reports give wonderful insights not only into the mind of the author, but also, to the inner workings and expectable results from ingesting this highly regarded medicine extract, typically found in various entheogenic cacti (Peyote, San Pedro) around Central and South America.

Alexander Shulgin was a pioneer of neurochemical combinations that lead to his love affair with the internal beauty of psycho-active chemistry. Being friends with the likes of Terence Mckenna and others, he made a name for himself through his work in uncovering many previously unknown molecular compounds which were, sadly, eventually confiscated by the United States police as 'dirty pictures.' But not before he wrote and published two great contributions to world literature on the use and chemistry of psycho-active drugs and medicines, known as PIHKAL (Phenethylamines I have known and loved: A chemical love story) and its successor, TIHKAL (Tryptamines I have known and loved).
