The yacht achieves a 6,500 nautical mile range at 14 knots cruising speed.
Breakthrough became the first superyacht to receive liquid hydrogen bunkering in the Netherlands in June 2025, prompting new safety regulations.
Hydrogen system covers 70-78% of annual energy use for hotel loads and amenities with zero emissions.
Widely rumored as commissioned by Bill Gates, though never confirmed, with reports he never boarded it before listing for sale.

Gates' representatives have denied his ownership of superyachts in past statements amid 2020 rumors of a similar hydrogen project.

The yacht listed for sale in July 2025 at around $645 million, handled by brokerage Edmiston.
Canadian billionaire Patrick Dovigi emerged as the reported new owner after Gates allegedly sold it without use.

Breakthrough debuts at the Monaco Yacht Show in September 2025 as a headliner for advancing marine hydrogen tech.

The project aligns with broader industry shifts toward net-zero emissions, influenced by tools like the Yacht Environmental Transparency Index.
