“China’s Shenzhou-20 Crew Achieves Breakthrough in Extravehicular Activities!”
On August 15, 2025, China’s Shenzhou-20 astronauts carried out their third spacewalk aboard the Tiangong space station, completing a six-and-a-half-hour mission packed with milestones.
Veteran astronaut Chen Dong achieved his record-setting sixth EVA, while Wang Jie performed his very first. Using a newly installed automated foot restraint on the station’s robotic arm, the crew installed debris protection devices, added auxiliary hardware, and gathered thermal imaging data to study how equipment withstands extreme space temperatures.
Inside the Tianhe core module, Chen Zhongrui coordinated operations with ground teams. These achievements not only improved Tiangong’s safety but also paved the way for upcoming life sciences, physics, and materials science experiments.
