I’m talking about children who are intentionally removed from their homes for profit.

Children are often taken unnecessarily from their families due to the Adoption and Safe Families Act (ASFA), a federal law passed in 1997. This law created financial incentives for states that increase their adoption numbers.

To receive these adoption bonuses, local Child Protective Services (CPS) agencies must have more children in the system. In other words, they need more “merchandise” to sell — more children to adopt out.

Funding is made available when a child is placed in foster care with strangers, or when they are sent to mental health facilities and put on medication — often against the parents’ wishes.

Parents become victims of a system that profits from keeping children longer and gives bonuses for not returning them to their families.
