When I was originally writing this tale, I needed something to upend the fragile alliance that I created. In the previous entries, I've highlighted the political prowess of Tarian. In contrast, with this installment of the series, I wanted to explore the idea that not all fractures come from common enemies. Sometimes betrayal begins as nothing more than a hint, and grows into something impossible to ignore.
