Reasons Why I Could Never be a Roman Catholic

These five solas became the rallying cry of the Reformation and continue to be central to Protestant theology today.

Sola Scriptura (Scripture alone):
This principle asserts that the Bible is the sole infallible source of authority for Christian faith and practice, and that it should be interpreted through itself. It stands in contrast to the Catholic Church's view that tradition and papal authority are also sources of truth.

Sola Gratia (Grace alone):
This doctrine emphasizes that salvation is a free gift from God, unearned and undeserved by humans. It rejects the idea that human works or merit can contribute to one's salvation.

Sola Fide (Faith alone):
This tenet teaches that justification, or being declared righteous before God, is received solely through faith in Jesus Christ, not through any works or merits of the individual.

Solus Christus (Christ alone):
This principle asserts that Jesus Christ is the one and only mediator between God and humanity. It rejects the role of saints, priests, or other intermediaries in salvation.

Soli Deo Gloria (To God alone be the glory):
This final sola declares that all glory and honor in salvation belong to God alone, as He is the sole author and finisher of salvation. It stands against any attempt to give glory to humans, saints, or other created beings.
