52 - Clearing Brambles to Outline the Pond & Kicking Off Excavation & Moving Soil!

In our last two videos, we’ve given you a few sneak peeks into what we’re currently working on and the exciting plans we have for the coming weeks. But before we dive into the big projects ahead, there’s some essential prep work that needs to be done. These steps might not seem as glamorous as the main projects, but they’re crucial to ensuring everything goes smoothly later on.

Some of you have affectionately nicknamed Philippe "Bramble Man!"—and let me tell you, his strimmer will be tackling quite a lot of them in this video! This is all in preparation for the pond we plan to create, as well as clearing the way for the dumper truck to easily navigate the area when moving soil from behind the barns to build the dam. You could say the soil is getting a second life as part of the future dam.

After a few days of bramble shredding, we’re excited to welcome our family, who will be vacationing with us for the next 10 days and lending a hand around the homestead. And they came bearing gifts! On their way, they made a detour about an hour south of Paris to pick up parts for our red tractor—specifically, the front wheels.

With all the prep done for the pond, it’s finally time to start digging and moving the soil down to the fields. This is something we’ve been eager to tackle for a long time, and the moment has finally arrived, making us so very happy!
