Rabbi Dr. Bernhard H. Rosenberg, Rabbi Emeritus of Congregation Beth-El, Edison, New Jersey. He received his ordination and Doctorate of Education from Yeshiva University in New York. He also possesses A.A., B.A., M.A., and M.S. degrees in communication and education. He possesses a Doctor of Divinity from The Jewish Theological Seminary, New York. He taught at Rutgers University in New Jersey and Yeshiva University in New York. Rabbi Rosenberg’s book, “Theological and Halachic Reflections on the Holocaust” is now in its second printing. He serves on the New Jersey State Holocaust Commission and is the Chairman of the Holocaust Commission of the New York Board of Rabbis.

The Holocaust is the systematic mass murder of European Jewry by the Nazis. The term Holocaust literally means a fire that causes total destruction .Yehuda Bauer, one of the world's most eminent historians of the Holocaust, differentiates between the term genocide and Holocaust by defining the term genocide as partial murder .While there have been numerous instances of genocide, the total annihilation of a people was never an officially sanctioned purpose of a national government as it was in Nazi Germany. It is precisely this which differentiates the Nazi action against the Jews from other genocidal attempts against a people.

The Nazis wished to conquer the world and therefore threatened the very existence of every single Jew in the world. The principle target of the Nazis was always the Jews. Yes, it is true that as many as 50 million human beings were murdered by the Nazis and their collaborators. The Nazis destroyed the lives of Gypsies, homosexuals, the mentally disabled, Jehovah's Witnesses, communists, socialists, trade unionists

and religious opponents. But it was only the Jews who were singled out for the Final Solution.

The Jews, according to Hitler were maggots, a virus that had to be eliminated. Hitler saw himself as the German Messiah doing God’s work by destroying the Jew. Let us not forget that all people with three or four Jewish grandparents were sentenced to death. Regarding the Polish population, there were no plans for total annihilation. Slavs were looked upon as being inferior Aryans; however Slovaks, Croats, and Bulgarians were Slavs who served as German allies, It was only the Jew that Hitler and the Nazis considered to be like the Devil and therefore inhuman. In the Jew Hitler saw the image of Satan. According to Hitler it was only the Jew who wished to dominate the world, and it was the Jew Hitler wanted to destroy.
Hitler and the Nazis created a policy of selective mass murder against the homosexuals, Gypsies, Poles, Russians, prisoners of war, Catholic priests, Jehovah’s Witnesses’, the physically and mentally disabled, dissidents and others. But it was the Jew that was seen as a virus, a bacillus that had to be destroyed before it infected the entire world. It was the Jews who poisoned the mind of mankind. The policy of making the world Judenrein applied to the entire world. The group Hitler hated above all was the Jews. He made himself the supreme racist.

In his final hours, Hitler continued to urge the destruction of the Jew . Hitler had diverted trains and soldiers to Concentration camps when he desperately needed them for the war effort. Germany was destroyed due to this mad man and at the end all he could think about was murdering more Jews.

This mad man was responsible for the murder of my grandparents, two siblings, uncles, aunts, and cousins. My father, Jacob, of blessed memory survived Auschwitz and my mother, Rachel of blessed memory survived Skazyskokarmiene. I became a Rabbi to do everything in my power to prevent another Holocaust and to teach the world the lessons of the Holocaust. My fear is that after the death of the final Holocaust survivor and eventually the death of the children of Holocaust survivors, history will be re-written and the Holocaust will no longer be a Jewish issue but rather a universal one. The number will no longer be The 6 million Jews but rather or 50 million casualties of war. Many still persist in saying there were six million Jews and 5 million non- Jews who were exterminated by the Nazis. We all should mourn and honor those who fought and died, Jew and non-Jew alike. However, let us never forget and always remember that it was the Jews who were the primary target of Hitler and the Nazi regime. The historian Yehudah Bauer wrote;’ Simon Wiesenthal, as he admitted to me in private,( invented the figure six million Jews and five million non-Jews) inorder to create sympathy for the Jews- in order to make the non-Jews feel they are part of us.’

I pray that the Holocaust and the memory of those who perished will be kept alive by our grandchildren and future generations. LET US NOT DILUTE THE MEMORY OF THE HOLOCAUST BY STRESSING HOLOCAUST AND GENOCIDE. WHILE IT IS IMPORTANT TO STRESS THAT WE SHOULD NEVER BE INNOCENT BYSTANDERS WHILE OTHERS ARE MUREREDED OR DISRCRIMINATED AGAINST, WE ALSO SHOULD NEVER DILUTE THE SINGULAR SIGNIFICANCE OF THE HOLOCAUST. I FEAR THAT 50 YEARS FROM NOW THE HOLOCAUST WILL BE FORGOTTEN AND BECOME ONLY A DATE IN HISTORY TOGETHER WITH OTHER GENOCIDES. I WILL DO ALL I CAN NOW TO PREVENT THIS.

Rabbi Rosenberg’s Trump’s backer
Already when Donald Trump ran in the primaries, Rabbi Rosenberg had faith not only that Trump will be a good president for all Americans, but he will turn over the hostile tide President Obama established against the State of Israel.
To show his support, Rabbi Rosenberg met with Trump’s team in the Trump’s Tower, in Manhattan, New York City, in order to be assured his vote is the right choice.
The follow-up was founding the ‘Rabbis for Trump’ group.
Encountering discrimination
As a Rabbi and a teacher at Rutgers University, Rabbi Rosenberg was harassed and threatened by a former student, who used anti-Semitic slurs and name calling against him because he received B+ grade. The media and Jewish organizations remained silent. Till today he did not receive a single call from the university president’s office or its communications department, where he taught. The Rutgers police investigation of this case remains unconcluded.
For years Rabbi Rosenberg has been reporting about anti-Semitism and anti-Zionism at Rutgers U to no avail.
Rabbi Rosenberg believes that behind the silence and oblivion hide the fashionable politically correct behavior.
People prefer to stand idly by in the face of wrong and evil. Sometimes till it is too late.
Fighting anti-Semitism
Rabbi Rosenberg is the son of Holocaust survivors, Jewish parents who escaped from being murdered by the Nazis during World War Two. In this mass murder action the Nazis and their collaborators murdered one out of three Jews who lived in the world at that time.
“My parents were Jacob and Rachel Rosenberg. During the war Rachel was a slave labor in a Nazi munitions factory. Later on she was sent to Buchenwald Concentration Camp. My father, Jacob Rosenberg, was sent to Auschwitz. Their entire families, except for my father’s half-sister and niece were murdered, including my father’s first wife and children,” Rabbi Rosenberg tells me in few sentences his background, the base to his being.
Rabbi Rosenberg wakes up each day with a sweat. He will not keep silence in light of any anti-Semitic incident.
His worries have now doubled with the Democrat Party veering toward anti-Israel polity and the nomination of three congresswomen who possess anti-Israel dogma, which is collective anti-Semitism.

If only for his parents’ sake alone, Rabbi Rosenberg fights antisemitism and discrimination of Jews with every bone and nerve he possess.

Rabbi Rosenberg is a leader, not afraid to challenge the status quo.
He believes that another era that has culminated in the Holocaust is at the doorsteps of today’s humanity.
Sadly, he also believes that many Jews are part of the problem just as they were when they supported and helped Hitler in his early days of rise to power.
“Politically Left leaning rabbis and the Jewish establishment appease the adversaries of the Jewish people. They join in marches that express their dislike of Jews while claiming liberalism tenet,” he expresses clear disappointment in his own people.
Rabbi Rosenberg welcomes truth and could care less if some call him a bigot while revealing the truth. “Jews are beaten up by black men and the black community and our leadership is silent,” but not me, he underscores.
“Shame on them. They must go into the black people’s neighborhoods, en-masse, and show the might of truth,” Rabbi Rosenberg goes into his lesson of how to fight back. “Do not tell me rallies are old fashion. Everyone, except the Jews, have them,” he adds in response to the Jewish organizations that hardly ever hold a protest rally, when such rally is due.
“Jews are silent, the police and the politicians are silent and insidious anti-Semites such as Al Sharpton and Louis Farrakhan are having a field day. Under the ‘free speech law’ guise, these anti-Semites say and do what they want against the Jews while the media, the quasi ‘Jewish Organizations’ and even way too many rabbis are silent.”
“Remarkably, I have many black friends and many Christians, of all skin colors, who speak up for me on my social media sites, while my people, the Jewish people, do not. And if they do it is way too little.”
“Christians are being persecuted and murdered, especially the Coptic Christians in Egypt, and the world is silent. Muslims are being murdered by other Muslins, en-masse and no one is there to stop the evil doers.”
“If we, all people members of the civilized world, do not join together, the ingathering storm will turn into rainfall of wickedness, the like of the Nazis or ISIS.”
Is Rabbi Rosenberg a hero? Not at all. Everyone should do what he is doing. Not standing idly by!
The truth is that there should be many Rabbis like Rabbi Rosenberg! A rabbi is a teacher and a leader, not an appeaser and a shushing force.
Bernhard Rosenberg, 70-year-old, born in 1948, in a Displaced Persons’ Camp, in Regensburg, Germany, arrived to America at age 2 and was raised in Kansas City, Missouri. He is a Jewish rebel in the good sense of the word. The kind of Mordechai Anielewicz rebel, the leader of the Jewish Fighting Organization, which led the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising; the largest Jewish insurrection during the Second World War, which inspired further rebellions in both ghettos and Nazi extermination camps.
