DNC Chair: What We’re Seeing in Trump’s ‘Authoritarian Regime’ Is a ‘March Towards Full-On Fascism’

Steele: “To be honest, sir, Democrats, in my perspective, are following the story and they’re not doing a good job of catching up to it. How do you propose as we head into the fall? And as I was mentioning, people settle down and start to have their their, you know, looky-see at what’s happening around the world, particularly in their own backyard. How are you going to be a part of that conversation to help them understand exactly what’s happening here in D.C. and what that means to them, as well as what happened in L.A. and what that means to them, even though they’re living in Mississippi, which I’ll get to in a moment.”
Martin: “Well, let me tell you, I mean, what we’re seeing right now is just a full-on attempt by this authoritarian regime to March us towards full-on fascism. And we have to stand up right now in this moment, as Democrats — and I understand Representative Garcia, he’s a ranking member on the House Oversight Committee, he has a job and a responsibility. My job is to call it like it is.
And what we’re seeing right now out of this administration is a cover-up. Every step of the way, Donald Trump’s trying to avoid any accountability as it relates to Epstein, of course. He’s done everything he could over the years to create this conspiracy theory that there’s a deep state that’s hiding things from the American public. Well, guess what? Donald Trump is the deep state. There’s a reason he doesn’t want those files to come out. We know why. We all know why.”
Steele: “Because his name is on the page.”
Martin: “That’s exactly right. But listen, this this is the — you know, this party is covering up for their billionaire pedophile friends. Donald Trump is chief amongst them, and he won’t call — he will not release those files for the obvious reason, and he’ll do everything he can to create stories to obfuscate the facts of this. We have to, as Democrats right now, continue to put pressure on it. And that means, as a Democratic Party chair, my job is to actually make sure we litigate the case against Donald Trump. You know, I’ll let other people talk about all the good things that we want to do to help improve people’s lives and strengthen communities. My job, I’ve always said, as a DNC chair, as a state party chair, is take the low road so our candidates and elected officials can take the high road. What does that mean? We gotta grow a spine. We gotta throw punches. We cannot be afraid to throw a punch and define this guy. And what we’re seeing right now, there’s no one better at unifying the Democratic Party than Donald Trump, for sure. No one should confuse unanimity in our party for unity. But let me say, we are unified in our goal of beating Donald Trump. And my job is to make sure that we get out there and define him very aggressively.”
