Connection

It’s okay to feel disconnected around other people. I can hold others, or they can hold me, while we are feeling disconnected. In the past, when we lived in tribes and villages, this was easier than it is now, when we work from home or spend a lot of time on our smartphones and computers.

It’s important to calibrate when to connect and when to disconnect, and sometimes it’s hard to get right.

We can connect with ourselves, with each other, and with something larger than us—whatever name we give it. We can also disconnect when it becomes too much. It’s like inhale and exhale. When it is too much, we pause, and then return and try again.

Allow whatever has happened to settle. Whatever moves, allow it to move within you and integrate in its own way. Just let it be.

It’s important to use words, even if only a few. Let your voice be heard and allow yourself to be connected to yourself, others, and something larger than us.
