India is facing scrutiny from the United States for buying Russian oil. This comes as it holds talks with China to ease border tensions and boost trade. We break down what’s happening on both fronts.

The United States is looking to take a 10 percent stake in Intel as part of its push to boost the chip industry and counter China. And officials say distance matters: “We cannot rely on Taiwan, which is 9,500 miles away from us—and only 80 miles from China,” said Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick.

Nvidia is developing a new AI chip tailored for export to China, Reuters reported. The model is said to be more powerful than the H20—which is currently the most advanced chip the U.S. allows Nvidia to sell there.

Amid China’s growing military pressure, Taiwan says it must rely on itself. The self-governed island plans to buy nearly 50,000 drones over the next two years.
