Monsoon rains continue in Pakistan.
Peshawar received 52 mm of rainfall in two hours on the morning of August 18, turning the city into a flood zone. Key roads including Saddar Road, Kohat Road, University Road, Ashraf Road and Charsadda Road were submerged. Water flooded the markets of Pipal Mandi, Qissa Khwani, Kohati and Shafi, damaging goods worth millions of rupees. In the Jahangipura area, shops selling traditional Peshawari sandals were flooded. Overflowing drains poured dirty water into houses and shops, power was cut off in several areas, and residents of the suburbs of Budhni and Warsak were forced to leave their homes due to rising waters in the Kabul and other rivers. Public transport came to a standstill: BRT buses stopped running, stations and sections of the line were under water.
