Awaken Biblical Prophecy Commentary – Who Are the “Many”?

One of the fascinatingly obscure prophesies that has led to various statements as to its intent is Daniel 9:27. Many think this verse is quite clear, but is it? Generally, those of us in the pre-Tribulation Rapture community agree that this concerns a covenant that Antichrist arranges with Israel so that it will become stronger or greater (Hebrew: gabar, Strong’s #1396). In other words, there is an existing agreement or treaty of some sort that is strengthened through the mediation and advocacy of the Antichrist. But within this seeming clarity of purpose, there’s a point of contention.
