Will Syria make peace with Israel?

After Rabbi Abraham Cooper met with the new Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa, this is what he thinks:

"I was convinced that this is someone who's worth having a serious ongoing conversation with, of taking chances towards peace.

…Especially because the perception and the reality is that Israel is strong, and that the United States—with this President—has Israel's back.

Syria right now is weak. The people are exhausted from decades of the Assads and civil war and everything else that has transpired.

And every group is also fearful like 'what actually is going to happen to us?'

So, that means that with the emphasis on domestic [affairs and] with the need to rebuild, this is actually a good time."
