Shocking Truth: No Background Checks for Immigrants Entering Canada

Holy crap — an awesome interview just dropped with Pierre Poilievre that you’ve probably never seen before, and it was phenomenally done by my friend Camila Gonzalez. She’s the host of MLS on TSN, so you might recognize her.

Let me give you just a quick preview — it’s amazing.

Pierre explained that in Canada we actually have not been doing proper criminal background checks on incoming immigrants. The Trudeau government was asked, “Do you do criminal background checks?” and they said, “Sure.”

But here’s the catch: what they meant was that they only check our Canadian criminal registry. Obviously, new arrivals haven’t been here, so they’re not going to show up in Canadian records. What we actually need to do is run background checks in their country of origin to see if they have a criminal record there.

And frankly, we should just have a non-admissibility policy for anyone with a serious criminal background. But right now — believe it or not — the government does not do that. It’s pure insanity, and it needs to stop at our borders.
