Is There Life after Death?

Something almost all parents will deal with is aging and elderly parents. Jesus at the Last Supper, after foretelling of his eminent death to come, comforted his disciples saying that - there IS life after death:

“Do not let your hearts be troubled. You believe in God; believe also in me. My Father’s house has many rooms; if that were not so, would I have told you that I am going there to prepare a place for you? And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am." John 14:1-3

In John 11:25-26, "Jesus said to her, 'I am the resurrection and the life. The one who believes in me will live, even though they die; and whoever lives by believing in me will never die. Do you believe this?'"

“Yes, Lord,” she replied, “I believe that you are the Messiah, the Son of God, who is to come into the world.”

John 3:16 tells us Christ, the Messiah, the Son of God came so whoever believes in Him will have eternal life!

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only Son, that whoever believes in him should not perish but have eternal life." John 3:16

If there is life after death, what can we do for that loved one that does not know Christ?

1. Pray, pray, pray. In “Life Beyond Part 2” prayer group members tell how prayer worked and how we can pray for our loved ones.
“…pray for each other…. The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16

2. As the Lord leads tell loved ones about Jesus Christ.

a. Share your testimony. Natalie was impressed in prayer to share her testimony of how she came to believe in Christ with her step mother 6 months prior to her cancer diagnosis. Her husband shared his testimony as well with her step mother and later her father.

b. Give printed or online gospel message. Natalie mentions ordering the pocket booklet “4 Spiritual Laws” from Cru.org. This summary of the gospel message is approved by Catholic and Protestant faiths.

c. Buy them a Bible and/or Christian books. Natalie recommended the Life Application Bible because the footnotes; explain the verses, refer to other relevant Bible verses, and apply the verses to life today. Christian books such as: The Case for Christ, Mere Christianity, Basic Christianity and More Than a Carpenter are great to give to those who do not know Christ.

3. Repeat a verse. In this chat, when her father was being taken from the ambulance to the hospital, God prompted Nancy to repeat the verse, “Believe in the Lord Jesus Christ and you will be saved.” Mark 16:16
