Buffalo, NY - Cheektowaga Police have released body cam footage from the incident last week when officers shot and killed a man they say lunged at them with a knife.

The video shows officers at the door of an apartment at the 269 Sanders Road in Buffalo on Aug. 13. They went there to arrest Hugh Davis Jr. for an Aug. 11 alleged assault at the Fairfield Inn on Genesee Street.

Last week, police said Davis, 60, had become upset for an added credit card charge for allegedly damaging a TV. They said Davis damaged property and threw objects at a hotel manager. Investigators says she told them she was scared, and ran to another room. Davis is accused of then punching a building superintendent, causing a brain bleed that left the victim currently in an induced coma at a local hospital.

The video shows the Cheektowaga officers repeated knocking on the door and window of the apartment to get Davis to come out. They eventually encounter Davis in his apartment doorway after they knocked it down. The video shows what appears to be Davis swinging a knife at two officers, nearly striking one.

An officer then fired three shots, striking Davis.

Two officers left the apartment building to get first aid, and an AED.

Officers performed life-saving measures until Buffalo Fire Department and Buffalo Police Department personnel arrived, but Davis was pronounced dead at the scene.
