Israel: Thousands Protest in Tel Aviv To End Gaza War; Netanyahu Says Such Actions Boost Hamas |N18G

Thousands of protesters gathered on Sunday in Tel Aviv to call for an end to the war in Gaza and the release of hostages, in one of the largest demonstrations in Israel since the fighting began in October 2023. Protests also took place in various locations, including Jerusalem, Haifa, Beersheba, and other smaller cities. According to the Hostages and Families Forum, approximately one million people participated in protests nationwide. Approximately 30 people were arrested for blocking major roads and clashing with police. The nationwide protests coincided with a major strike. Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu criticised the protesters, saying their actions were strengthening Hamas. Meanwhile, Hamas has reportedly received an updated ceasefire proposal from Egypt and Qatar. The group has also signalled a willingness to ease demands that had previously stalled ceasefire talks.
