All Things Spiritual-The State of Man

In Genesis 1, God created man in his own image, with male and female being created in his likeness. He blessed them and instructed them to be fruitful, multiply, and replenish the earth. God also gave them every herb bearing seed and tree for meat. Man was made last of all creatures, not as a helper to God in the creation of the world. This was intended to humble them and honor them. Man received favor because he had the whole visible creation before him, and his body was made of the same earth as the beasts. The creation of man was a signaler and immediate act of divine wisdom and power than the rest of creation. It was a distinct manifestation from the rest of creation, as it was a work for which the rest of the creatures were made. God spoke as one having authority and affection, and his delights were with the sons of men.
