🫣 It turns out, this isn’t a new sci-fi scenario—it’s actually a real condition caused by a virus long known to science. These Wax Fungus–looking growths, described by locals as "black quills" sticking out of the bunnies, have been spotted in and around Fort Collins, Colorado. 😬

Is it dangerous? 🤔 Good news— for humans and pets, there’s zero threat. The virus is rabbit-specific and can not infect other species.But 🤨 Wildlife officials strongly advise against touching or handling any of the affected rabbits. Like, who would wanna touch that anyway?! 🤢 Sorry, bunnies! 🐰

As for how many have been found—it’s around a dozen or so reports in the Fort Collins area, though some likely refer to the same rabbit being spotted more than once. Hard to keep count, I guess, with them hopping around and second guessing yourself if you counted that one. 🤷
