Ocean Blast-Off! China’s Smart Dragon-3 Launches 11 IoT Satellites into Orbit!
“Ocean Blast-Off! China’s Smart Dragon-3 Launches 11 IoT Satellites into Orbit!”
In a spectacular midnight mission, China’s Smart Dragon-3 rocket has launched 11 Geely-04 satellites from a floating platform near Rizhao, Shandong Province.
This marks the rocket’s sixth successful offshore launch, expanding Geespace’s constellation from 30 to 41 satellites, with plans to reach 64 within just two months.
Developed by Geespace, a subsidiary of Geely Holding Group, these satellites are built for Internet of Things connectivity, inter-satellite communications, marine monitoring, low-altitude transport, emergency response, and environmental observation.
The sea-based launch approach offers flexibility, faster deployment, and optimal orbital placement, making it a game-changer for commercial space operations.
This mission is a major step toward building a global Internet of Things (I.O.T) network that could transform communications, mobility, and environmental data services.
