I would compare this situation with the 15th century and the discovery of the New World. When the countries of Western Europe realized the importance of new maritime routes and new continents. In contrast to the Muslim countries on the Silk Road, as well as China and India. They knew that things would change drastically. The same process has been happening for the last 5 years. Namely, what is coming is that China and India will be the two largest economies in the world in the next 50 years. That Asia will dominate the world economy. Although it already dominates the World Production. The Russians understood this more precisely in their School of Eurasian Geopolitics. Whose biggest proponent is Aleksander Dugin.

Vladimir Putin also understood this fact in 2007 and solved the final dilemma in 2021 after unsuccessful attempts to reach an agreement with the West. The equation is simple. China and India will become two huge economies that will drive the World Economy. Russia will be their energy hub and supplier of energy and metals. There will also be a balance between China and India. That story was invented by Donald Trump back in 2016, i.e. a part of the American deep state that supports him. Now, just like Russia, through cooperation with Russia in the energy sector, Trump sees a chance for the USA to be an important cog in the new economic reality. On the other hand, Europe and the EU, i.e. their ruler, the City of London, wants to contain the old economic order at all costs. However, they lose the battle in that.

The nine-dash line was not arbitrarily drawn by the PRC. It is the same boundary as that drawn by the RoC decades before the PRC came into existence. Even the RoC had a precedent to call upon: the Qing Dynasty.

Argue the validity of the Qing and RoC borders all you want, but pretending that the nine-dash line is a product of Chinese aggression or expansionism is pure propaganda (or sheer ignorance).

The issue with the South China Sea is that foreign colonizers came in with their gunboats, exploited the people, unilaterally made new borders, and then were kicked out by the locals. This left a mess of conflicting borders and mutual claims by every country in the region.

It will be worked out by the locals. In the meantime, the Western colonizers that made this mess in the first place can kindly butt the f**k out and stop trying to destabilize the region (and stop trying to contain the regional dominant power in a pathetic bid to shore up the US's failing global hegemony).

@jasha9sandhu. At the end of WW2, the American Navy assisted the RoC to reclaim the islands in the South China Seas from the Japanese. Why no regional countries at the time protests against the RoC? Because at the time all regional countries recognised these islands are Chinese territories.

I'm a 2nd generation Chinese born outside of China in Malaysia, our family's identity in Malaysia has always been "Chinese" even though we are Malaysian. Chinese immigrant brought their strong Chinese culture with them where ever they went and kept it strong, especially in SE Asia. I'm so proud of China and it's achievement and the Chinese people.

They were really poor at that time, especially in the countryside.
To have an idea, google one of the poorest country in the world, Burundi for instance and look at the pictures, China was poorer than that in the 1970s.
They elevated their country (which is as large as a continent) in less than 50 years.
It is a miracle.

Eric Li made a very valid point. When Germany being the most productive country in the Europe Union is having all sort of problems, the lesser European countries are in worse shape. The US proxy war in Ukraine-Russia conflict is taking toll in the European economy.
