Superman’s Jor-El Twist Retconned Following James Gunn’s Defense of it

Superman viewers have noticed additional elements in the digital release of the film that removes ambiguity of the Jor-El twist.

Director James Gunn tried to defend his decision following the film’s release by claiming such a thing has been seen in the comic before. This didn’t seem to work amongst general audiences who felt, at best, the hologram Superman sees of his biological parents was doctored by Lex Luthor. It’s unclear whether it was James Gunn or other executives at Warner Bros. who made the changes in the digital release, but one thing is for sure and that’s fans were not happy with the theatrical version.
