Endure the Mocking, Embrace the Doubling | Job’s Trial and God’s Favor

“Are they not mockers with me?” (Job 17:2). Job faced relentless provocation from his friends — accusations, pressure, and constant pushing to break. Yet his endurance mirrors the Lord Jesus Christ, who was mocked, blindfolded, and struck, and still humbled Himself in silence. Job’s eyes were weary, but the Lord’s eye continues forever, beholding all.

The mockers said Job’s suffering proved guilt — but God had called him righteous. Job was on the mountain of the east, and the Lord purposed to take him higher still — by doubling all that he had. On the other side of trial, Job could testify: “I know Him as my friend. I know His compassion. I don’t fear Him as I once did.”

This message reminds us that the mocking of men cannot hinder the blessing of God. What they use to provoke, God uses to refine — and then to double.
