Rails (Italian: Rotaie) is a 1929 Italian drama film directed by Mario Camerini and starring Käthe von Nagy, Maurizio D'Ancora and Daniele Crespi. It was originally made as a silent film, but sound was later added. It was made at a time when the Italian film industry had dramatically declined in size, and was one of only a handful of films released that year.

Synopsis:

A young newlywed couple, ostracized by their families, considers suicide in a dreary hotel room. But a passing train causes the poison glass to shatter—averting tragedy. They find a wallet at the train station, giving them funds to flee to the seaside. There, they dip into gambling dramas and face seduction attempts. Chance and moral choice guide their fate: they reject compromise and return to the city, where hard work and generosity from others offer them a humble yet hopeful future.
