Jose Got the Answer Right? Wrong! He Got The Answer Right? The Gospel Corrupted, Children Not Saved!
He Got the Answer Right / Jose Got the Answer Right is a cartoon presentation that claims to be the gospel of Jesus Christ. It is produced by Hopewell Ministries under the authority of Hopewell Baptist Church in Napa, CA, pastored by Mike Ray, an alumnus of Hyles-Anderson College, run by First Baptist Church of Hammond, Indiana. The video is also available on the website gettheanswerright .com.
The people who made the video state that it took fifteen months of work. They make it available, not only in English, but also in Spanish, Arabic, Farsi, Hungarian, Mongolian, Ukranian, Swahili, and Cebuano. Clearly, they are sincere and dedicated to the message of "He Got The Answer Right."
The video says some things that are true. It mentions that Jesus Christ died for our sins and rose from the dead. It mentions that the Bible is God's Word, that people commit acts of sin, and that heaven and hell are real places.
However, He Got The Answer Right actually gets the answer seriously wrong. It corrupts the gospel, and Satan will use it to produce many false converts.
The video starts in an irreverent way, with Jose thinking the best day in his life is when he got his phone, and then saying that it really was the day he prayed the sinner's prayer.
It contains many images of God and of Jesus Christ. The Bible and Baptist confessions condemn images of God and Christ as idolatry. Furthermore, they will mislead children into thinking that God is not an omnipresent, invisible Spirit. Children will believe in a false god that has a body.
The video only presents a binitarian god, not the Trinitarian God of Scripture. It never says one word about the Holy Spirit, the third co-equal member of the holy Trinity, although in Acts 18:24-19:7 people who did not believe in the Holy Spirit were not born again. There is plenty of time for jokes about candy in the video, but not for the ten seconds it would take to say that the one God is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
He Got The Answer Right denies the total depravity of human nature. It falsely claims that the lost "in their hearts, want to know God," when God's Word says exactly the opposite-all people not born again are so corrupt in their hearts that they will never even want Christ unless the Holy Spirit draws them (Jeremiah 17:9; John 6:44).
The presentation of sin and hell is also shallow.
Biblical repentance is omitted. Christ commanded "that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in his name among all nations, beginning at Jerusalem" (Luke 24:47), but this video does not preach repentance. It never warns the lost: "As I live, saith the Lord GOD, I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked; but that the wicked turn from his way and live: turn ye, turn ye from your evil ways; for why will ye die[?]" (Ezekiel 33:11).
The omission of both the word "repent" and the idea of repentance is deliberate, in accordance with the heresy of Jack Hyles that the lost only need to repent of unbelief to be born again, not repent of their sinful deeds.
While there is nothing about the depravity of human nature, or about the Trinity, or about repentance, there is a LOT about the “sinner’s prayer.” The human response to the gospel is regularly represented as something we “do,” because what we must “do” is say the sinner’s prayer. The response to the gospel is the good work of repeating the sinner’s prayer: “Have you ever DONE that?” the cartoon of Jose when grown up asks. But Scripture explains that the human response to the gospel is faith, not the sinner’s prayer. It is the opposite of something we “do.” It is ceasing to “do” and trust in what is already “done.” Jose says: “I didn’t know HOW TO ASK like you did” in order to be saved. The key for salvation is supposedly “how you ask.” This is a false gospel.
In the video, “Gospel Guy” says he asked Jesus to come into his heart. Jose then sees that he needs to have Jesus come into his heart by praying. But Scripture never tells the lost to ask Jesus to come into their hearts, or says they will be born again if they ask Jesus to come in. That false teaching is a gross abuse of Revelation 3:20.
Neither Romans 10:13, Romans 10:9, Romans 10:9-14, Revelation 3:20, nor any other passage in the holy Bible teach the sinner's prayer.. The human response to the gospel is repentant faith alone: "repent ye, and believe the gospel" (Mark 1:15). Many sinners have repented and believed on Christ without ever praying the sinner's prayer, and many sinners have prayed the sinner's prayer and never trusted Christ.
The video falsely conveys the message that the Lord Jesus was arrested by Roman soldiers while He was preaching in a field to a crowd of people. Nor is it clear that the Lord Jesus Christ is truly human even after His resurrection.
Many children and adults will go to hell if they believe the message of this video. It gets the answer WRONG.
