New King of the Hill Boss Says They Can’t Animate How the Used to

The new show runner for the revival of King of the Hill explains they went with digital 2D animation because they can’t do hand-drawn animation anymore.

In a recent interview Saladin K. Patterson acknowledged the difference in animation from the new season of the show to the original. According to him the industry shifting towards digital 2D animation is the result of cost cutting measures and even if they could justify the added cost of hand-drawn animation, there aren’t enough animators to work on it. Despite criticism of the new animation, the show has gone over well with audiences.
