The protest kicked off peacefully but quickly turned aggressive—with looting and threats aimed at foreigners and American businesses like Starbucks.

The anger isn't just xenophobia—it’s rooted in rising housing prices and displacement fueled by Airbnb and tourism.

But targeting individuals—especially based on nationality—is dangerous, fuelling division and chaos.
