It is easy to confuse the absence of problems with the presence of safety. Seasons of calm can make it tempting to stop seeking God, to let prayer fade, and to live as if you are secure without Him. Amos 6:1 warns that comfort without dependence on God is dangerous. Complacency dulls discernment. It weakens your guard. And it leaves you unprepared for what is ahead. The safest place for a believer is not comfort. It is staying close to God, alert to His voice, and ready to obey.
