Apatros Review Ep-0181: Vampire Diary [2006]

AR-0181: Not to be confused with that nasty TV show the young'uns have been watching, this is a mid-2000s lesbian vampire romantic thriller shot in the Found Footage format [now there's a novelty!] about a young female doco maker doing a piece on the London "Weekend Vampire" club scene of the day, who meets up with a fellow filmmaker who claims to be an actual vampire. Soon the pair become a couple, which leads to some nasty complications as the vampire seems to not be playing the part but actually living it for real.

Not a good film or even a standout example of this notorious 1970s subgenre in the vampire field, "Vampire Diary" does have a unique novelty value and those actual Weekend Vamps might enjoy seeing this time capsule into the old lifestyle, although as far as Sapphic vamps go, this one's on a par with something like Jess Franco's "Vampyros Lesbos"...

My Grade: D+ [Disappointing]
