08.03.25 "Come Together Right Now – Over Me"

We label ourselves. We identify with our gender, our ethnicity, our race, our sexual preference, our age group, and of course our political leaning. All of these things serve one ego purpose – they keep us separate and apart. They keep us believing that we are different from the "other." All of these things are merely values which ACIM tells us we have to challenge and question. "To learn this course requires willingness to question every value that you hold. Not one can be kept hidden and obscure but it will jeopardize your learning." (Tx.24.2) Our success as Miracle Healers and Teachers of God rests on our ability to question every value. Ask yourself honestly how willing are you to question yours?

Our society has taken these definitions and divisions to extremes right now, and many feel more divided and isolated than ever before. The sense of a collective whole is fractured and currently almost non-existent.

I remember as a teen ager and a young adult I puzzled over what was truly the difference between the political left and the political right? How were Democrats different than Republicans? I saw different candidates and different people with different energies. However how that translated into different political ideologies alluded me through most of my early adult life. I found it difficult to align with a political party because I couldn't truly see the difference between them.

The same is true today. The current Democrats have taken on many values strongly held by Republicans just a few years ago and vice versa. I now see Republicans expounding what I would have thought were Democratic ideas from less than a decade ago.

This fragmentation extends into the spiritual realm as well. Does one value organized spiritual structures like churches, or does one believe spirituality needs to be unorganized and thus you would define yourself as "Spiritual But Not Religious." "SBNR" is now a recognizes acronym. Even in the ACIM world we have some strict divisions in our community. Perhaps you are one who believes ACIM is a "mind only" approach and any time a discussion moves into the realm of the physical world and bodies, that it has gotten off course, or off Course with a capital "C". Perhaps you believe that only the FIP books should be read and studied and that to embrace, or even open, any of the other ACIM editions is heresy.

Having different ideas is going to occur, but strongly identifying ourselves with these ideas and then excluding others who may think differently is the problem of separation, and that problem will manifest sickness and all the other ills of the world. "Look fairly at whatever makes you give each other only partial welcome or would let you think that you are better off apart." (Tx.24.9) I am not better off apart from any of my brothers and sisters in Christ. They may think differently than I do about any number of things, but those differences are never a reason to separate or even to give those people "partial welcome."

Our society doesn't need to be more pulled apart, it needs to collectively come together, as the great Beatles song said. Follow my, Rev. Tony's, lead. "Come together right now – over me." Actively question the values of your definitions of yourself. Come together.
