A brief introduction to me and a longer introduction to this channel.

The data on our current energy consumption is from the Energy Institute's 2024 Statistical Review of World Energy, available at https://www.energyinst.org/statistical-review . I use data on our consumption from 2019. In 2023 the total of nuclear, hydro, wind, solar, and geothermal was 4,800 Calories per person per day, not too different from the 2019 total of 4,150 Calories. Almost all of that change came from wind, which increased from 430 to 750 Calories, and solar, which increased from 220 to 530 Calories.
