The water above the firmament is liquid oxygen, and the firmament is composed of frozen pure oxygen. Oxygen freezes at -218.79 degrees Celsius. It is also known that pure oxygen, when frozen, has a blue colour. The higher you go, the colder and denser it becomes. This is also why the well-known ripple effect occurs when rockets are launched upwards.
