Text: Jeremiah 9:23-24

Objective: that the brethren may glorify the Lord even more, as He deserves it, by limiting self engrandizement to the minimum.

Intro:
Define – glory, shun, personal, eminence, celebrity
Context – Glory of the Tender-hearted but Valiant for the Truth - Jeremiah 9

Things to Consider:
1. There is Legitimate Boasting in the Lord – be sure to be genuine and truthful
a. Isaiah 45:25, Romans 2:17, 1Cor. 1:31, 2Cor. 10:16-18
2. Determine the scope and limitation of Worldly Glory
a. Worldly wisdom -- Isaiah 29:14, Isaiah 47:10, Jeremiah 4:22, Romans 1:22, 1Cor. 3:19-20,James 3:15
b. Worldly riches - Prov. 11:4, Ecc. 6:2, Zeph. 1:18, Rev. 18:17
c. Strength, Life and glory of Man in general - Ps. 49:17, Is. 5:14, Is. 21:16, Eze. 24:25, Hos 4:7, Hos. 9:11 - Zec. 11:3, 1Pet. 1:24
3. Consider the example of John the Baptist
a. John 3: 27-33

Message/conclusion:
Let us exhalt the Lord even more by being less of ourselves…
