Paying off your debt can be extremely challenging. If you have debts with higher interest rates, it can be even more difficult. Some sources of debt such as credit cards tend to have higher interest rates than other sources such as auto loans. Your interest rates usually depend heavily on your credit score.
In this video, tax expert Karlton Dennis explains two primary methods for paying off debt - the debt snowball method and the avalanche method. Both of these methods are heavily used and commonly recommended by personal finance experts like Dave Ramsey. However, they are not the same thing.
In fact, there are major differences between the debt snowball method and the avalanche method. If you want to know the key differences between these two debt repayment methods and which one might make the most sense for you, then this is a great video for you to watch. Karlton also gives his recommendation for which one he likes better.
