Episode Description
When Diana returns to the institute, the dean is excited to finally have the creature. He reveals that he’s been doing a lifelong experiment in which he extracts the powers of all the monsters he’s ever caught. He then has been using those powers to create a single, all powerful creature. This beast that Diana has just captured is the final piece of his puzzle. Diana is appalled. With no further use for her the dean plans to turn her into a mutant monster. When Martin receives a distress call from Diana, he’s not sure what to make of it. When Martin shows up at the institute, he quickly realizes that the distress signal is no trick. In an action-packed sequence, Martin is able to save Diana’s life. Diana explains what happened to Martin and acknowledges that she’s made a big mistake. M&D discover the dean’s plan all along was to use his new hybrid creature to take out the competition. And that competition happens to be the Center. Martin and Diana are still at odds, but they have to save the Center. When they ultimately catch up to the creature, they realize that its powers are so strong, it is nearly impossible to stop. Ultimately, Diana and have to settle their personal differences and work together to defeat the creature and save the Center, along with their fellow agents. In the end, Diana is afraid that her scathing resignation letter to MOM might have been so harsh that MOM won’t let her come back to work at the Center. But it turns out that Martin never gave it to her. And to further cheer Diana up, MOM informs her that there was actually a second part to the evaluation. And it just so happens that Diana did wonderfully on it and Martin did poorly. Diana is made to feel like she is an important part of the Center. It turns out that Martin and Diana’s unique, individual styles of investigation complement each other perfectly – as evidenced by the way they worked together to defeat the creature. In a subplot, Martin, Diana, Java and Billy are evaluated by the Center.
