Galatians 3:15-25

Paul distinguishes God's "covenant promises" made to Abraham and his seed as distinct from "the law" imposed upon Israel 430 years later. Paul explains why "the law" was added; which begs the question, 'how did Israel commit transgressions even before 'the law' was added'? On what basis did God rescue the children of Israel from the Egyptians? What did God ask of the children of Israel before "the law" was given? How did the children of Israel respond to God, and what was the outcome? Who was under the schoolmaster?
